The TSA (Trans-System Authority) has been very tightly spoken about its dealings with the new alien threat known only as the Kharaa. The species itself is a mystery, seeming to randomly appear onboard vessels and stations. In response, they have created an elite military to combat the infestations; a group known as the Frontiersmen.

The first published accounts of the Kharaa came from a Fajid Roha, who was among the first to ever encounter the species. However, he only completed one chapter before having a tramatic psychological relapse. He did not recover to complete the account for some time.

In the mean while, the credability of the TSA was dropping. Though continuing to defend the human race, many corporates tried to bar their way. One way they did this was by distorting the TSA's image to the public.

In response, the TSA hired Jack Eastman, a Neo-Politzer writer and journalist. He was allowed to station onboard the TSA dropship "Rockstrike" for two months and was given top 3rd-party access. During his time there, he published The Frontier. It was nominated for the Neo-Pilitzer, and drastically brought up the popularity of the TSA.

Monster Is his second account of the Kharaa, after shipping in with the Frontiersmen himself. He is still undergoing psychological therapy over the incident.
